A very popular dish, Surf and Turf (or Surf n Turf), comes in various guises, depending on where you buy it, if you’re eating out, or how you cook it, if you’re eating in.
The main ingredients are fillet steak and king prawns, or langoustine; if you’re being really posh!
What added spices, sauces, and trimmings you use, are up to you. We like fine fillet steak, a couple of king prawns pan friend in olive oil with a little garlic and chilli (not too much chilli though).
Cook the steak to your liking (we have some suggested timings here) throw in the prawns (shells on) for the last couple of mins. Chop or rip up some flat-leaf parsley, or herb of your choice, and spinkle over the steak and prawns.
Serve with a nice mix of fresh veg, we like dauphinois potatoes and baby corn and something green.
Enjoy with a nice glass of Pinot Noir, Malbec or other red wine of your choice. Beer works well too if that’s what you prefer. Try one of the current crop of craft beers, like those available from Barnaby’s Brewhouse
If you can’t taste the full flavour of the wine or beer, you’ve put in too much chilli. We told you not to!
